Five ways to make a math page less overwhelming

Reduce the count. Twelve carefully chosen problems teach more than forty repetitive ones, and they leave a learner with energy left for thinking.
Increase the white space. Crowded worksheets create visual noise that competes directly with working memory.
Keep the layout identical from page to page. When the structure is predictable, attention goes to the math instead of to figuring out the format.
Anchor every abstract step to a visual. A ten-frame beside a subtraction problem is not decoration; it is the reasoning made visible.
End on a success. The last item on a page should be one the student can almost certainly complete, because how a session ends shapes whether they return to it.
